People volunteer for many reasons: to serve their community, be part of a team, gain experience and develop special skill sets are just a few. Central Valley Fire District has numerous opportunities to become a volunteer.
Rural/Defensive Volunteer Firefighter - 40 hour initial training via a spring academy. Note: this academy is a prerequisite for the Fall Firefighter 1 Academy.
Firefighter/EMT- After completing the Rural/Defensive Firefighter program you may be accepted into the Firefighter 1 Academy for a combined total of at least 160 hours initial firefighter training via a fall fire academy.
Firefighter/Paramedic - Must have FF/Paramedic certification, 20 hour orientation
Emergency Medical Technician- 160 hour initial training after fire academy is complete
Paramedic- Must have Paramedic certification, 20 hour orientation
Administrative Support- orientation training as needed
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the request for a volunteer application and you will be placed on a contact list for the next recruitment period, typically at the beginning of each calendar year.
*Successful applicants will be required to attend initial and ongoing training, meet physical requirements and pass a background check.
