Becoming a career firefighter is an extremely competitive process. If you desire a career in the fire service, you will improve your chances by having volunteer fire experience, higher education, a strong work ethic, and most importantly, a great attitude. Firefighting is a team endeavor, and requires a commitment to the team over a commitment to self.
Central Valley Fire District is a participating member in the Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium. This year the Public Safety Testing group is administering both the written and physical tests. The Consortium pretest is in April, with testing in May. To participate in this testing consortium, interested individuals must register early. Please check the consortium website regularly or contact the Consortium to get up to date information on testing opportunities and deadlines. Current CPAT's from other organizations will be accepted, but eligible applicants from Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium are contacted directly when a position comes open.
Any career positions for entry level Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic will be advertised and require a current CPAT and passing written examination. Additional testing, interviews and background checks will be required by CVFD.
From time to time, CVFD may have employment opportunities other than entry level firefighter. These positions will be advertised and posted on this website.
